As part of Mitra Prodin’s commitment to the community, we have partnered with Yayasan Bali Peduli to help continue their life-saving work for those affected by HIV. In 1994, Indonesia’s National AIDS Commission was established, with the goal of better support for people living with HIV and AIDS. Their focus was on preventing the spread of HIV, coordinating programs to increase education in the community, and providing treatment and care for those living with the disease. Since then, the Indonesian government has committed millions of dollars to the initiative and ongoing research into prevention strategies and the scaling up of treatment, care, and support services.
A key part of this National AIDS strategy was to identify those most at risk of contracting HIV and attempt to reach at least 80 percent of those with comprehensive prevention programs. The goal was to change the behaviors of at least 60 percent of this population. More importantly, the government committed to providing antiretroviral therapy (ART) to at least 80 percent of those in need.
This government initiative was well received and set a benchmark for best practice care of people living with HIV/AIDS. However, due to complex and competing factors such as natural disasters, pandemics, and general lifestyle barriers that interfere with treatment adherence, the take-up hasn’t been as successful as the government would have liked.

Mitra Prodin recognized the incredible work of the Indonesian government and was proudly in the position to lend a helping hand to this movement. By funding further investment and research into HIV prevention and management for better outcomes, Mitra Prodin hopes to end the stigma around the disease, and eventually, help eradicate the disease altogether. In the meantime, the team at Mitra Prodin is helping to empower marginalized communities and challenge HIV-positive discrimination.
By partnering with organizations like Bali Peduli, Mitra Prodin saw an opportunity to live their ethos of ‘be the change you want to see.’ Yayasan Bali Peduli is a life-changing organization, working hard to provide free treatment for HIV-positive people living in Bali. Their mission is to destigmatize and improve the lives of those living with the disease.
Their services include HIV diagnostics and treatment, outreach for women and children living with or orphaned by the disease, medication and lifestyle management and assistance, providing specialized support services, and running HIV awareness and education campaigns in the community.
The charity functions with the generous support of private donors, and Mitra Prodin is proud to be able to contribute to this.
At Bali Peduli’s new facility in Seminyak, Mitra Prodin’s donation was used to buy diagnostic lab equipment. Patients attending the clinic are greeted by friendly staff, who gently guide the patient through every step of the testing service. Once the blood is tested and a positive result is obtained, the amazing staff work with the patient to collect further information and offer advice and professional counseling, plus a management plan for the future.
It’s life-changing and life-saving work, and Mitra Prodin is proud to be part of this vital work in Bali, helping HIV-positive patients and their families to have better outcomes and community support.
